Privacy policy

Open Prompt Manager keeps your prompt library on your computer. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to publish a prompt to this catalog. The extension does not use analytics, advertising, or an account for its core features.

This policy covers the Chrome extension and this website (Open Prompt Database). Both are made by the same independent developer, Jonathan Bertholet.

Stays on your device

  • Prompt titles, content, tags, and folders
  • Settings, shortcuts, and which sites you enabled
  • JSON backups you export yourself

Leaves your device only if you ask

  • Import copies one catalog prompt into your local library
  • Share publishes a prompt you chose, under your public handle
  • Report sends a reason so we can review abuse

What the extension stores locally

Core use does not require an account, email address, or sign-in. Your library and settings stay in the extension on this browser profile.

  • Library — titles, content, tags, and folders
  • Settings — theme, shortcut, launcher mode, and which assistant sites you enabled

If you use sharing, your public handle and a random publish token may follow your Chrome profile. Your prompt library is not synced that way — use export / import to copy prompts to another device.

Uninstalling the extension deletes this storage from that browser profile.

Permissions

Site access is optional. The extension does not need access to websites to install or to manage your library.

  • Save your library and settings on this device
  • Show the side panel and work with the tab you are using
  • Insert a prompt or save a selection on sites you have allowed

On a site you enabled, the extension looks for the chat input so it can insert a prompt you picked. It does not upload page content, chat history, or cookies. After you insert a prompt, that assistant’s own privacy policy applies.

What we do not do

  • No analytics or advertising in the extension
  • No sale of personal information
  • No login or email requirement for the local library
  • No remote upload of your full backup
  • No reading of your AI chats

This catalog (optional)

None of this happens unless you use Open Prompt Database.

  • Import copies a prompt you selected into your local library
  • Share publishes a prompt you chose under a public handle. It is not tied to your Google account
  • Report sends a reason (and optional detail) so we can review the listing

Published prompts are public. Do not publish API keys, passwords, or personal data. You can unpublish a prompt you uploaded.

You do not need an account to browse. Community entries are unverified — review them before pasting into any assistant.

Your choices

  • Export or delete prompts in the extension; uninstall to remove local data for that profile
  • Turn off catalog sharing, or unpublish prompts you uploaded
  • Revoke site access in the extension or in Chrome’s extension details

If you want help with a published prompt or handle, email us. We do not sell personal information.

Children

These products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We will update this page when the products change in a way that affects privacy. The effective date at the top will change.
